Extension framework in D365 F&O

To save upgrade costs and give consumers with new features more quickly, monthly binary updates are sent to the finance and operations apps. Steer clear of invasive customizations since they may affect the cost of those upgrades.

Applications for operations and finance are customized with extensions, which let you use Visual Studio to add functionality to source code and model pieces in the Application Object Tree (AOT). If an extension isn't able to help you with a customization, you can open a support issue for extensibility. Additionally, X++ can be used to develop new code that alters the functionality.
