Debendranath Tagore Punyatithi
● Debendranath Tagore was influenced by the ideas of Rajaram Mohan Roy and established 'Tatvbodhini Sabha' in 1839 AD.
● Debendranath Thakur was born on May 15, 1817 in Bengal.
● After Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Debendranath Tagore revived the Brahmo Samaj in 1843.
● In 1865 AD (1867 AD – in RBSE 12th), Debendranath Tagore deposed Keshavchandra Sen from the designation of Acharya. Brahmo Samaj got divided into two parts.
● The society of Debendranath Tagore's was called 'Adi Brahmo Samaj' and the society of Keshav Chandra Sen's was called 'Brahmo Samaj of India' (Indian Brahmo Society).
● Under the leadership of Debendranath Tagore, Brahmo Samaj emphasized on commendable works like supporting widow remarriage, promoting women's education, abolition of polygamy and abolition of ostentatious religious rituals.
● On January 19, 1905 Debendranath died.
