Great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai
Born - January 28, 1865 [in Dhudike village of Firozpur district of Punjab]
Nickname - 'Punjab Kesari' and 'Lion of Punjab'.
 Higher education - Studied law from Government College, Lahore.
⬧ He was the founding member of Punjab National Bank in the year 1894.
⬧ Influenced by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, he joined Arya Samaj in Lahore.
⬧ Lala ji along with Bipin Chandra Pal and Bal Gangadhar Tilak formed a trio (Lal-Bal-Pal) of nationalist (extremist) leaders.
⬧ Later joined the Hindu Mahasabha and showed his protest against untouchability.
⬧ After joining the Indian National Congress, he was sent to Burma in the year 1907 for participating in political movements, but was released from prison due to lack of sufficient evidence.
⬧ In the year 1917, 'Home Rule League of America' was established in America and this organization appealed to the international community in America to provide moral support to the Indian independence movement.
⬧ He was also the President of 'All India Trade Union Congress'.
⬧ In September, 1920, the Calcutta session of Congress was held under the chairmanship of Lajpat Rai.
⬧ In the year 1926, he was elected the Deputy Leader of the Central Legislative Assembly.
⬧ Started 'Hindu Relief Movement' in the year 1897 to help the people suffering from famine.
⬧ Established 'Servants of People Society' in the year 1921.
⬧ Literary Works- Problem of National Education in India, England’s Debt to India, Young India, India's Will to Freedom, Message of Bhagavad Gita and Political Future of India.
⬧ In the year 1928, during a protest against the Simon Commission in Lahore, he was brutally assaulted by Superintendent of Police James Scott, from the injuries of which he died shortly.
